Interview with UN Special rapporteur on Minority Issues |European Regional forum on National Minorities 2021(video)

On October 12-13 the  European regional forum on ′′Conflict prevention and protection of minority rights ” will be held online. This is one of several annual regional forums that allows the UN Special Report on Minorities to hear different opinions and relevant information to submit its annual report in the UN Human Rights Council.

Xirat Media had an exclusive interview with UN Special rapporteur on minority issues Dr. Fernand de Varennes . During the interview topics such as the purpose of the European Regional Forum ,the importance of such a forum for solving the issues of the national minorities, the role of NGOs and the state in ensuring the inclusion of national minorities, as well as the conflict resolution and the gaps and challenges in the rights of national minorities, the role of youth in conflict resolution and peacebuilding have been discussed.
